This month's theme will hopefully get those creative juices flowing:
ELSEWORLDS

Your task is to create a custom GI Joe or Cobra from an alternate reality. The custom may be a figure, vehicle or diorama.

Here is a list of alternate reality ideas for you to use as a starting point. If you come up with a different alternate reality concept, that's great! If you come up with an idea and don't plan on entering, post it so others can give it a shot.

1. Mirror, Mirror: Good Guys are bad, Bad Guys are good. This would encompass any reality idea in which a character's alignment is skewed in the opposite direction.
2. Gender Bender: Reimagine a character as the opposite gender of what they are in standard reality.
3. GI Joe - The Next Generation: This reality is set several years in the future. New people take up the mantel of old characters. Maybe they are related, maybe they're not.
4. Steampunk: Set in a fantastical Victorian setting
5. World War II: Axis vs. Allies. Does it need anymore explanation?
6. Wild West: The American frontier.
7. Fantasy: A time of magic, myths and monsters.
8. Post-Apocalypse: A major event devastates civilization.
9. Space Opera: Blasters, Aliens and Space Ships.
10. What If?: Take a major event in GI Joe canon and turn it on it's head. ex. What if Hard Master was never killed?

Rules:

Construction
This contest is open to customizers of all eras of GI Joe. Unlike some other contests, you are NOT limited to 25th style parts. You can make your custom out of Mighty Muggs, Sigma 6, 12-inch, New Sculpt, RAH or 25th/ME. (Any style of Joes qualify.)
It doesn't have to use all Joe parts, but it should fit within a particular Joe line. For example, you couldn't just repaint a Marvel Legends figure since there has never been a Joe line in that style.


How to Enter
Create a post in our custom section. Your title should start with "2/10 Contest Entry". This will help us sort through the threads.

Post a link in this thread to your entry post.

You must include a minimum of 4 pictures of your entry. (If you put them as attachments, they can be larger than if you try embedding them.)

You must include a recipe list.

Please indicate how long it took you to make.

It will also help if you write a few words about the idea for your entry.


The Details
Anyone may join this contest. This includes people who just find out about JU through this contest. You can be a first time customizer or a professional. Previous winners may win again.

You are welcome to submit as many entries as you wish. However, if you want them considered separate entries, they should be in separate posts.

Entries are due March 8th, by 11:59pm est. Normally I have it end at the end of the month, but since February is short, and I will be out of town, I set it for when I get back.

Your entry must be for this contest alone. You may not enter anything that has been previously posted here or has been posted elsewhere. Once you post it here for the purposes of the contest, you may post them elsewhere to promote your entry. To remain qualified, the post should not be a full gallery and should include a link back to your official entry here at JU.

Joe Universe staff and the Sponsor(s) may post "entries" for the contest, but may not qualify for winning since we will be involved in the judging.

Prizes
First Place: $50 of Tri-gate product

Participation Prizes: Outer Rim will provide something to everyone that enters a qualified entry.
Bonus Prize: Hunter Artworks will be offering up some prizes to an entrant that meets their criteria. The criteria will change with each contest, so stay tuned for Asphalt to chime in with those details.

How to Qualify for the Win (i.e. How Not to Suck)
Post only clear detailed images. Blurry images take a lot away from the entry. On the same note, small phone images don't help either.

Use an image resizer to cut, crop and resize your images so that we mostly see your entry not your dirty laundry hanging in the background.

Be creative. Think outside the box.

This is NOT where you take a character from another property and insert them into GI Joe reality, or take a Joe and insert them into the reality of another property. For example, this is NOT "what if Cobra Commander ruled the Empire as a Sith Lord." or "What if Batman was a GI Joe" Any entry that does this will be disqualified for judging.

Effective presentation. The cooler the picture, the more likely it will be seen as a potential winner.

Put some effort into it. While in general LBCs can sometimes be cool, they won't work in a contest setting.

Hi everyone,
As Pyro stated I will be throwing out a couple prizes this round. But winning criteria will be a little different.
Prize 1: Most creative re-imagining of a known character. This will involve both customizing and story writing. The winner of this prize must completely re-imagine their character to fit the universe they are in. Duke being the leader of a post apocolyptic band of law keepers, while a good idea, is still pretty close to the original. I want to see how creative you can be about blending your creation into its universe. The winner will receive 15 dollars credit from Hunter Artworks.

Slight change to previous contest requirements:

This opens up your entries to using parts from third party suppliers such as Tri-Gate and Hunter Artworks. It also allows you to expand into such lines as BBi, World Peacekeepers, TRU heroes, etc in your creations. As explained above, what I don't want as entries are customs better suited to other toy lines.
